Hi I'm Christina! I live in Arizona and I got my first chicks just 2 weeks ago. My husband and I finished up the coop this weekend and we are so excited for our girls to check it out!
We live in a neighborhood right now so we are starting off small, but we will be moving in a year to a 1 acre plot that we intend to turn into a chicken paradise :)

Welcome, though I’m new enough to still be receiving them myself! I’ve been a reader, and not so much a commenter, over the past (nearly) 3 years. Sounds like a familiar story! I left a 1 acre plot and moved to a subdivision-(for my hubby’s work/business ventures) and can’t wait to get back to (at least) a 1 acre plot, and plan to in a year or so- 15 year old still in school or not! We have 8 chickens here in suburban hell- and figure that’s enough tho we’d love to have about 100 more! Not sure hubby ever wanted to be a chicken farmer, but at this point I’m pretty sure he’s willing to do anything to keep this almost empty nester (human babies/nest) sane and semi-docile. He doesn’t like to talk “chicken” quite as much- enter BYC! You’ll love it here. Lots of people who share the same “sickness”, but who also share their knowledge and expertise quite freely. It’s been invaluable for me.. and as of lately quite entertaining too!

G’Day from down under Christina :frow Welcome and Congratulations! :clap

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

Please do check out the Topic of the Week discussions Pork Pie mentioned. I have found these to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining. These two may be of particular interest to you at this stage:
Topic/Question of the week - Brooding and supplementing heat for chicks
Topic of the Week - Raising Chicks

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! Glad you joined the flock! Please make yourself at home we hope you enjoy BYC as much as we do! Your chickens will no doubt be in paradise when you move to that acre lot! Lot of excitement and free-ranging! Hopefully you can expand their pen area and even if not they still have a lot of beautiful land to look at.
