Hi all! Been lurking while we work thru the process. Went to our “chicken class” a few days ago to get the permit. The run is built (my contractor did it ) and coop is set. Will be picking up 4 month olds tomorrow morning to begin the fun. Seller had several to choose from and we’ve decided to go one of each - RIR, New Hampshire Red and Barred Rock.

I certainly appreciate all I’ve learned from this group and hope to contribute.

Location is Jacksonville Fl.

Welcome....we are always happy when a "lurker" takes the plunge....I'm a newbie too and like me you'll probably think "Why did I wait so long to dive in?" Folks here have a great depth of knowledge and are very willing to share. The run is really nice! Is there a coop?

Thanks for the welcome! Here’s the girls. Didn’t take the barred rock as she was older and the guy says he didn’t realize that they would grow to be the same color so he didn’t know which breed was which between the comet/RIR and NHR. That said, looks like two are RIR.

Will get some better pics once they’re acclimated and some coop pics too!

Hi! Welcome to BYC! I like the bale of hay/straw in the run. Be sure to add roosting bars and other "clutter" to keep their space interesting to them.
