Hi all, I'm Amber. I jut got eight chicks on Sunday, and they are now 12 days old. I have four Barred Rock, and four EE. I have been trying to figure our sexing, but I'm just not getting it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

right now I am keeping them in a very large bird house. I have covered the grate very well, so they don't get hurt. I have a towel down over the grate cover, and then straw over top of that. In about a week I will move them to a huge plastic bin to stay until they are fully feathered. We already have what we are calling a "grow out coop" ready for them, until they are ready for the big coop.

Sexing chicks is not an exact science. The professional chick sexers at the hatcheries only guarantee 90% accuracy at one day old. At this point you will need to wait a few months to see how they develop.

It's too early to sex them. You'll need to wait until they are at least 6 weeks old to begin guessing.
