New chicken parents 😊 Brooder questions

Hi Olivia and welcome!

In my own personal experience, chicks are very clever and learn quickly whenever a change is made. I wouldn't worry about making a change here and there as they grown. In general, once they reach 4 weeks they are able to produce and maintain their own body heat. I would have them outside at that point, in a draft free coop at night and an enclosed pen during the day.

Have fun with your chicks! They grow fast so don't blink! And thank your hubby for keeping the power on. I have a special fondness of linemen for getting out there in the worst conditions and fixing power lines just so I can have lights and a running refrigerator!
