Hi!
We recently bought this 5 acre place in north central Florida, and decided to have some chicken and guineas. A nearby chicken farmer had some Javas and we decided to try this heritage breed. Now we are the proud 'parents' of 4 3-day olds and 4 3 week olds. Will be looking forward to seeing how many turn out to be hens. Also, 7 guinea keets. Should be a lot of fun.

Wow, sounds like you have some lovely breeds! Love those Java's. I have never kept them but have done some research on them. Love their looks and black color!!

Make yourself at home here and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Welcome to our flock!

Actually there are three colors of Java, that I know of. The Museum of Science and Industry hatches them year round, courtesy of a breeder, who then takes them back and gives them new eggs for the exhibit. It's my favorite exhibit and the first place I head for.

Welcome to Backyard chickens, hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
