Hi everyone! My name is Katlyn. My husband and I recently bought a property on 5.1 acres! We have both lived in the city, so the country is new to us and we LOVE IT! We are looking for different ideas on chicken coops to see what has worked and what hasn't worked for everyone. We are hoping to build a coop soon, and we were thinking about using pallets? Has anyone built one from used pallets??? Any suggestions??

! Great to have you here!! You can find lots of great info on coops on BYC!! Love how you are reclaiming old materials and re-purposing them. See the links below and have fun with your chicks!

Thank you so much! We are pretty lucky, there are local warehouses with hundreds of pallets that they said we can take however many we need!

Hello and welcome from SW Ohio....so glad you joined BYC.
My current coop is a garden shed but have to build the silkies a new coop this spring and was thinking of using pallets. I have about 10 so far. And there are some really neat coops on here built using pallets. Good luck with yours-they seem easy to assemble :)

Hi, Katlyn, and welcome to BYC.

If you are interested in Buckeye Chickens, we have a group member who has done some wonderful stuff with pallets. Very impressive. This group isn't limited to Ohioans or even Buckeye Chicken owners, but we have lots of both there. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you a PM on how to get there and see the coops that Wendy Kantzler's husband his built out in Colorado.
