I'd say pallets were great for salvaged material. We just finished our coop and it was all completed with recycled wood and materials. I would just make sure that it's not too drafty. You need good ventilation, but pallets, depending on the spacing between boards, might be better used as salvaged pieces after being disassembled. We definitely used some salvaged wood from pallets. Good luck! How many chicks are you planning on getting?

Thanks for the information! I'm not too sure yet on how many exactly. But more than likely in the 5-10 range
