new chickens but have no idea what they are

there are three of those white ones and two of them are fairly friendly but the other is a bit standoffish. I purchased them all at the local tractor supply and they weren't labeled. There are a couple of the red ones that don't seem to have much personality either.

here they are as babies. The white ones were the pullets, yellow ones were straight runs

If you don't want him to be hard to handle you need to handle him every day now well in to adult. Let him know you are trustworthy and you need to hand feed him treats each time. This way he will associate you with good stuff like treats. The pecking at your shoe I wouldn’t worry about, we have a polish hen that used to do the same thing as a pullet. She was one of the few that actually would allow me to hold her and she still does.

which one? Red? he has a funny personality. He's the first one to greet me every time I visit. And I say "greet" loosly lol. If I pick up one of the hens, he's right there to check things out. He usually gives my shoe a peck too. I'm hoping that as he gets older he's not going to be too hard to handle.

thanks for the suggestion of the treats. but what kind of treat? I can't seem to get them to eat anything other than their food and bugs. they haven't wanted any type of fruit i have tried to give them or popcorn.

You’re kidding won't take any treats? Finicky little guys are they? Try bananas, yogurt, mealworms, shelled sunflower seeds or bread. There are several threads about Treats on BYC. Just use the search tool at top of web page. You will also find helpful information about food not to give chickens.

this might be a stupied question by how does a chicken eat yogurt?
I had blueberrys and cherry tomatoes. Red did try the blueberry but wasn't impressed. and no one even looked twice at the cherry tomatoes. lol I guess i need to go get some bananas today so i can try them.

Well, they would just peck at it and get it in their mouths. I guess. But they make a mess so if they go near it. stand back.
