So I got these chickens a week ago, and assuming that the move to their new home would upset them, they would not lay for a while.

With that in mind, I was down to a few eggs so I got a dozen from a friend.

Well, it seems that the chickens are all 'fat and happy' in their new digs, and have been laying machines! 4 Buff Orps, 1 Australorp.

As of Sat evening, (one week) they have laid 23 eggs! 2 of which are huge. When I got the first ginormous egg, I called a friend and said
'very funny, you got me, where did you get the emu egg?'
Of course there were denials, but I was convinced, until I found another Jupiter size one two days later!

So with 39 eggs in hand, I have been cooking quiche, breakfast casseroles..... and stocking the freezer.

Anyone wanna come over and eat?

That sounds great! We're being overrun by the little eggs that our Golden Comets are laying. They are 20 weeks old so the eggs are still little, but they still take up as much room in a carton.

Off to make scrambled eggs......
