Sorry been busy today so didn’t have time to get photos and it’s dark where I am at the moment, but I’ll be sure to get some tomorrowWould love to see this!...and other pics showing the coop and run inside and out.
Well I wouldn't say out in the cold. They look perfectly fine as far a temperature wise and they have a cover over their heads so don't stress too much.View attachment 2305711Once again the young ones were out in the cold when i went to shut the door
The winters here aren’t too bad, more wet then cold. And the perches are just level with the bottom of the glass, sorry I didn’t realise they weren’t in the photoI can't see where they actually perch inside the coop but it does seem fair to say that the older chickens may not be allowing them to or that they do not know to go inside and perch themselves because you did say when they were separated you put them on the roost.
If they continue to roost where they are maybe add a roosting bar for them to perch on and put a piece of metal tin roofing or something sturdier as over head cover from rain/wind because other than that it seems adequate seeing that it's up against the coop and building structure. I'm not sure how cold your winters are so I'm not sure it'll be sufficient for winterizing them. Hopefully they'll get adjusted to roosting with your assistance.
Is there any ventilation in the coop when the doors are closed?
