Hello!, this is my first post. I have had chickens for 3 years. I started with 4 Golden Buffs, although the 4th one was a little suspect as she grew up a different color!
Anyhow, i have lost two of them. one to being scared to death by a neighbors dog, and the second to being egg bound.
We decided to get 4 more new chickens. The issue is, they are TERRIFIED of the two older ones. I have done all the "introduction" tricks. They currently share a run, they just avoid each other. The main issue I have is that the new chickens do not use the henhouse. They sleep outside on a platform. I have read on here about penning them in the coop. However, the house also has the laying beds. So the old chickens would not have access to lay.
I also read the nightlight trick. I will try that next. I just worry they wont get along at night. I may just end up building a separate coop.
I know thats a lot of rambling, so if you made it this far, thank you and any advice would help!
