New chickens

Im picking up 10 chickens today that are 5 mths old. The woman says she has them on crumble and i have 12 8 mth old on pellet. Can i just put the new ones on pellet as well at this age?

Crumbles are ground up pellets. Either can be purchased as layer feed or all flock feed. The latter is preferable for a mixed flock, one that is made up of layers and non-laying chickens. Chicks can't eat pellets since they're so tiny, but older chickens can eat either pellets or crumbles. It's your choice, pellets usually being less expensive.

Both sets of birds are capable of eating either choice. Really up to you and what you prefer.

You can transition them onto pellets by steadily increasing the amount that you put in their crumble.

They may not readily eat the pellets at first if they are used to crumbles.....you could always toss them in the blender to break them up a bit as you switch them over.
