hi i'm getting new chickens and i was wondering how long you have to separate them from the rest of the flock to avoid diseases:idunno my favorite :woot

No, you need to really have them separated a great distance apart, you need to change your shoes and clothes between working with each set. And you need to do this for a month, to truly quarantine. If you don’t truly quarantine, then you are just pretending.

If your current flock is truly financially valuable, I would not recommend adding new birds. If you would go into a state of decline if you loose your original birds, don’t add.

If you can take the risk, then your idea would probably work. Don’t get birds at a swap market, don’t get anything you feel sorry for, and healthy generally looks healthy.

Separating birds in a see but don’t touch, is a good integration technique, but it is not quarantine as some people think.
