Welcome from Southeast Missouri! I think you are better off without a rooster. He very well could turn out to be a peck of trouble for you and your daughter. Do you remember what day you got your girls? Sounds like pretty much the same time I got mine...April 27. None of mine are laying yet, but we have red combs and squatting, so it won't be long.
I've never heard of a chicken that lays red eggs. Do you mean red, or the dark purply brown?​

Got mine on April 26. My RIR have red combs one bigger than the other both squatting and figured they would be the first to lay. Can’t wait for them all to be laying. Love the way they come out of the coop clucking. Hope they all do that. The chicken that lays the reddish egg is a black something can’t remember. When I think I’m ready for more chickens will look for them again. Could have been a dark purple brown!

Welcome to BYC - worked fine. Can you post a picture of Fast Flyer. The aggressive behavior you refer to is far more common from cockerels rather than pullets.
