Hello all.
After years of wanting chickens and having a "coop in progress," I finally committed to completing it and brought my starter flock of 10 English Orpingtons home in late April/early May.

I have two chocolate, two black mottled, two lavender, three splash and 1 chocolate cuckoo roo. They are an absolute joy to be around. I am hoping to add two blue, two jubilee and 1 chocolate cuckoo at some point. That should complete my flock.

I knew it was incumbent upon me to do everything I could to give them a safe, secure space to live. This site was so useful to me in my research and planning. I am so grateful to have had such a wonderful resource to enable me to benefit from the knowledge and experience of the members. I am happy to be here. I look forward to continuing to learn from all of you.

I just noticed that I have been a member of this site since 2012!!! That's how long it took me to plan and finalize my setup. There were some unforeseen delays, but WOW! I didn't realize that many years had gone by. A compliment to all of you: My pet sitter came out to my house and looked at my coop. She said from now on, she is going to refer people to my place if they want to see an example of a well thought out chicken set up. You all were my inspiration. I certainly didn't come up with the ideas on my own. Lol.
