Welcome & Congratulations!

you might want to consider getting at least one more chick. Sadly, we lose chickens along the way and if you lose one, your remaining chick or hen will be very lonely. I have been there, done that and got the T-shirt! Had to race out and find my lone chicken a friend, waive quarantine etc. Now, I have 5 and make sure I never drop below 3.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Thank you! Still learning how to use the forum. My friend will have chicks in May. Will that be too late? Should they all be babies at the same time?

Welcome!

Great!! How are you brooding them/set-up??
I am thinking I'll get a moveable coop. We'd like then to eat grass and bugs along with their feed. We have threat of fox and hawks galore around here so even if we let them out loose or in a pen, we'd need to keep covering and safety in mind.
