Oh I just can not wait until our store gets baby chicks, I've been asking for a couple of weeks and I get the same answer...they dont know....geesh, nothing says happiness like baby chicks.
Great. I am in about the same boat, though chicks won't be there for a month or so. You chose the same breeds I'm considering. I'm also considering 3-4 chicks. Awesome pics. Thanks!
Oh believe me, it took a ton of willpower not to get more! Lucky for me, the EEs were all reserved, so they wouldn't let me have one, and I didn't really want any Leghorns. I thought about a RIR, but with the size of coop I have right now, three really should have been my limit. BUUUUTTTTTT, we are getting prepared to build a larger coop in the next few weeks, as soon as DH starts hauling home all those free pallets he can get from work (as many as we want, yahoo!). So of course I meant "for now"!
Of course, the larger feed store that we go to that's about an hour away said they are still 3-4 weeks out for chicks, sooooo....
My HEART is actually racing right now... Our feed store has them coming soon. (The same day as my DD wedding reception) I'm waiting for some breeds I've never had
Barnevelder, Welsummer and Norwegian Jaerhon. I don't think I can hold to three
I really seriously almost got a couple of each of these breeds, plus the RIR's were extra cute too, but then I did the math, and realized that my coop now is a little crowded for 6 chickens even, and we have 5 in there, but we are getting rid of two extra roos soon...so I was really only getting one chicken! That's how that works, right?
Oh, and here's a couple of new pictures from today (3 days old!)
