Our bantam hen went broody a while ago and we let her keep the eggs. She hatched three chicks which she has been very protective of. (Even my dog terrified of her!) I'm a little worried that predators or the weather will get them, as my flock lives free range. But so far things have been fine! Here's a family photo with the roo. <3

I agree. My flock also free ranges 100%. The only thing I can think of is if you gave her an area of her own to coop her in and the chicks and let them out in am and in at night so her chicks could still free range. I don't know what your nesting boxes look like or where she is roosting with these chicks either though.

Welcome! Very cute birds!
I started with totally free ranging bantams, roosting in my barn. After many sad mornings finding dead and dying birds, We built a good coop for them, so they had a safe place at night, or any time there was a raptor attack. Deaths and injuries decreased 90% immediately.
Chickens are on everyone's menu, and really don't manage out there 24/7, at least without a safe place to roost at night.

So cute! Your rooster is stunning.
The mama is beautiful! Is she some sort of silkie cross? I love her coloring.
Anyway, sweet chicks- congratulations to you and mama :)
