OK I have 60 chickens now. I have 2 established coops and in each right now there is a hen with her own batch of chicks along with other adults. I just built a 3rd coop and have 12 baby chicks that I mail ordered.
I am wondering what will happen once these chicks grow and start to go out of the coop. Will the others attack them? I have always put new chicks in the coop isolated in a corner with the older hens so they all got used to each other and then eventually let the younger ones out of the corner to mingle with them all.

I am worried and wondering if this will work as they are separated in a different coop.
They all free range once old enough.

I am putting nest boxes and perches in the new 3rd coop hoping the adults will go there to check it out and use it as well while the new batch stays in there all the time for now.

Would I be better off putting the new chicks in one of the other coops in a corner ( with the adults ) and then eventually relocating whomever I wanted into the 3rd new coop?

They will be alright free ranging while living in another coop. That is how I introduce my new chickens, by putting the grow out coop in the pasture and letting them mingle when they get big enough.

OK thanks, I was afraid as they have no MAMA looking out for them the others might beat them up.

The others might beat them up. That is why I said when they are big enough. At least ten to twelve weeks till they are big enough to mingle and run away if they have to.
