Previously we had chicks my girls raised in 4-H - mostly frizzles and Cochins. It’s been quite a few years since we purchased any chicks. We had one bantam hen left which is around ten years old. Wanting fresh eggs again, I purchased 4 from our local store and 5 online from McMurray Hatchery which we have always used choosing breeds that were friendly but good egg layers. Since they are three weeks apart, we just put the six week old chicks outside in the pen with the others. It seems to be going well. Someone suggested a huddle box, so I moved their box out to a corner inside the pen where they congregate as their safe place at different times.
