I got 6 cochin buff orpington chicks this past weekend at a week old. I've lost 3 and don't know if it's illness or what. I have them in a home made brooder with a heat bulb lamp on them and on medicated feed. Other 3 seem fine now, pecking in the brooder at their feed and drinking. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if I just got some chicks that had some weaklings. I want to do all I can for the other 3 since I paid a bit more for these. I did get some sav a chick electrolytes in case I needed to add it to their water. Poop looked normal. I did notice some green in the litter, but not much. I have raised chicks before and never had this trouble the first time I got into chickens.

Where did you get them from?
What's their brooder like and where is it?
I'd add the electrolytes and possibly some probiotic. Recommend having 2 waterers; one with the added supplements and one without, make sure there are marbles or small stones of some kind in the drinking part of the waterer (To prevent drowning).

What is the temp in your brooder?
Do you have a picture of your set up?
They should be able to move away from the heat if it gets to warm. Brooder temp should be 95* lessening 5* weekly until 80* and fully feathered.

Where are you located?
You may want to up date your profile, it helps us with knowing when replying. If you're brooding indoors, or out makes a big difference too.

Where did you get them from?
If from hatchery, shipping takes a toll of them, get some Nutri Drench or Save A Chick Electrolytes for them, follow directions. Also contact the hatchery, they replace.
If from a breeder, contact the breeder.

I'll update profile shortly. I'm in NC. they are inside my house in a back room that is room temperature. Do you put thermometer on floor of brooder?

I put mine on the floor of the brooder. I also go by how my chicks are acting. One way I noticed it was too hot was because 2 of my 5 were breathing with their mouths open. Also make sure they have enough room to move away from the heat if necessary. Ive put electrolytes and probiotics in my chicks water since the beginning.

They could have underlying issues (as you never know what happens around those auction yards). I put an electric thermometer in the warmest spot in my brooder (floor) and follow the heat directions previously stated by ChickNanny13.
