New Chicks! Happy Spring

Odelia gave some sound advice. As to space requirements. Rule of thumb is 4-5 sq.feet per bird in the coop excluding nest boxes and roosts, 10 sq.feet per bird in the run.

If your locale has long bouts of increment weather it's good to have more coop space. When chickens are kept inside or crowded they resort to fighting, feather picking and in extreme cases even cannibalism. Welcome to the BYC flock.

Hello and welcome to BYC!

hello all, my chicks survived their first night, I was so worried they wouldn't. tomorrow they'll be 4 days old so I was wondering if there's something I can put in their area to keep them amused or are they still too young? Also can we give them treats at this young age? If so what kind of treats can we give them?
