New chicks older one is Rhode island red and younger is

young chick believed to barreed rock not sure what sex, and the gigger one is most deff a rhode island red but not sure of sex if you can tell sexes please let me know thanks i will try to get more pics of my rir up she/he wasnt holding still but i believe its a he but lets hope not

i dont have any pics of this yet but she has not grown any spurs so thats y i am undecided

I would say pullet on the barred rock and cockerel on the rir

that what i was thinking too because i havnt got a pic yet but my rir's tail is getting real pointy but as you can see on my BR it is more roundish, but if these two were to bree dand i hatched out the eggs would this be a red link or would it have to be the opposite as in the male being the barred

at what age does the spurs usually develope, on a male and a female as this might help alot since my rir doesnt even have any stubs yet

Cute chicks.The rir looks like a rooster and the other looks like a hen.
Hens can grow spurs like roosters.One hen I have has longer spurs than my roosters.

My roosters grew their spurs around 5 months old.At that age the spur was a small stub that took forever to grow to normal size.I don't know how long it usually takes for the spurs to grow but some may take more time than others.I had one roo that didn't grow spurs until he was a year old

My RIR rooster was born the same day my White leghorn rooster was and my white grew his spurs in at 5-5 and a 1/2 months old.It took another whole month for my RIR roo to grow his.

i was reading about how roos have pointer tails as i have commented on this in an earlier post but i was looking at some pics of hens on here and they have pointy tails too, so is this and actual way of sexing a chick or does it only work for certain breeds also, still wondering sexes of my chicks thanks
