I got my babies today - 1 Australorp, 1 BO, 1 BR and an Ameraucana. They will be one week tomorrow. They're in the brooder and peeping but don't seem distressed? Could they just be noisy chicks? (The BR seems to be the noisiest of all). Does cheeping mean they're unhappy?
Help!

I just got two silkies a few days ago and they haven't stopped peeping yet! They're only quiet when they are asleep. Temp is right, food is there, water is clean, bedding is dry, butts are clean

Chickens are very social creatures. They peep constantly as chicks to say "I'm here" - kind of a check-in. If a chick suddenly stops hearing peeping close by, it is a "heads up" that they are alone and need to find their flock (safety in numbers). By keeping up a constant peeping, they are reassuring their mates that they are not alone.

They are fine. Don't worry. I have one that never stops yelling and when I go check, it is beating up the rest and hoggin all the food!!!!

Mine are 5 days old.. and they're peeping all the time too!.. they have everything they need and seem happy though, so im not too worried..

Peeps are called peeps. Guess that's cuz they "peep" so much!

Not to worry, they're developing some good , strong lungs. I'd worry if they were silent.
