Sponsored Post New chicks: What to do once they arrive

About those light requirements... how is that in any way natural or helpful? 20 hours under a 40 watt bulb? Someone explain this to me. I've raised my share of chicks, managed to never even lose a single one (luck more than anything given the odds)... I have NEVER kept them under artificial light 20 hours a day. Momma hen wouldn't either!

Great article! We use Aspen shavings for our new baby chicks - very minimal dust. Paper towels over the shavings for the first couple of days helps to discourage any eating of the shavings.
