My game hen finished hatching out her chicks today. I noticed there was some 16 % layer feed as well as scratch on the ground. I read in an article just now that the layer feed can be toxic to chicks. I cant remove it off the ground the hen is aggressive and refuses to let me place my hands in the triangle ground coop. Should I be worried or just leave it ? I have chick stater feed I'm going to place in the coop in a feeder dish.

Congrats on the chicks!

Layer feed is only bad for chicks over a long period, as it has too many minerals and can hurt their kidneys (at least I think this is how it works). I've raised some healthy chicks that have eaten layer feed with the adult hens, along with chick food.

I hope this helps. Best of luck!
