It's kinda what you would call a tradition for our family to get chicks each spring... This year, we were quite late getting chicks... We usually get them from Sutherlands or TSC. My mom and I were in United Ag one day last week, when we discovered they still had chicks! So we purchased 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Gold Laced Wyadottes, and 2 Barred Plymouth Rocks! We ave never had any of those breeds before. Sad to say, one of the Gold Laced Wyadottes died die to crowding. I want to purchase another one but I don't think they'll STILL be selling chicks so we'll see... It just doesn't seem right to have two of Rhode Island Reds and Barred Plymouth Rock and only one Gold Laced Wyadotte! Here's two pics of them:

Super cute! Welcome to BYC!!! I'm sure by this time next year your flock will have tripled. Chickens are like potato chips. It is nearly impossible to stop. Have fun and we will see you around! :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy

IKR! At our house, chickens is a necessity! I wash eggs once a week and I average a little over 8 dozen eggs. Therefore we sell them. Last week, we had 18 dozen eggs in our fridge at one point! And thanks for the welcome!

18 dozen, how fun!!! I love the sound of that. Did you start out with just a few chickens and now have many or did you start gangbusters? I have 13 (not all laying), way past the allowed, don't tell (I'm hoping my neighbors cant count) but I want 30. I love caring, gathering, counting, selling, giving and trading. Total therapy. Too funny to find other chicken addicts. :frow Love BYC and it's peeps, just a bunch of enablers.
PS. I like your set up and would love to see more.
