Hello I am new to all of this I got 19 red pullets and 2 golden turkeys of my birthday. They are 2 week old now. I have then in a box in my living room. when is a good time to move them out they are still really small. been on here trying to read everything I can. I have a coop and run ready for them.

The chicks can be moved out when you are sure the temperatures will meet their needs. A rule of thumb for chicks is: The first week they need to be kept at 95, 2nd week 90, and so on-reducing the temperatures by 5 degrees per week.

The other consideration: Will you be moving them in with other chickens? Or will they be the only ones in a new coop? If they will be moved in with other chickens then you will also want to consider if they are big enough to either defend themselves or have a place to hide from the adults.

Good luck!!

If you start reducing the heat and taking them out for short outings now, you should find they will be ready sooner. Or you can rig up some heat and take them out there now. Most experienced chicken keepers don't keep them that warm after the first week or so, when they've recovered from shipping stress. Just be sure there is a good thick layer of hay or whatever for them to snuggle into, and there is no draft on the floor, as they will probably sleep on the floor for a couple more months or so.

See here, for just a few examples
