Okay so I have a question, what should we put down on the floor of our coop? Sand? Straw?

We use pine shavings. Use the large size shavings for easier cleanup.

We use sand inside the coop. It is easy to scoop the poop with the kitty litter scoop. Also, you should put the sand on the poop board ,at least an inch deep, to make that an easier clean up area also.

where do you get your sand? do you use fine or coarse sand?

I use sand as there isn't much dirt out here in the desert .....

Get construction sand. It is coarse, less dust and easier to scoop the poop out of. We first brought sand from Home Depot. Then I read on BYC that someone got a yard for $15.00 at a construction materials supply center. It made more since to get a truck load for the same price we paid for about 6 bags.
