New Chicks

I got new chicks today. The heat lamp is on and they seem ok. But, I put some feed on the ground for them and they layed down while they ate it. Is this normal? And, one of the sometimes holds her beak open and breathes kinda hard, but not always.

My chicks fall asleep wherever they want to and whenever they want to. So, yes this probably common, however the heavy breathing I am not sure about, my turkey poults occasionally do that. Other than that I don't know, have you had chickens before?

Yes, last year I got some from the same place, and they are doing great. I think the chicks might just be a bit stressed. Thanks!
