So I picked up this Cochin pair today. What's your opinion on them. I think they are around 3 months old. The cockerel is frizzled. I notched his wing feathers are pretty messed up. maybe from fighting, I don't know. He has 'greenish' looking ears. Is this common too? I think she is a gray Cochin. Just verifying this and asking opinions if this looks like a nice pair and what might be the most likely outcome from breeding them. Any help greatly appreciated!

She must be scared at the present with being moved to a new location because she just wants to lay and hide under him.

After bringing them home I noticed she has an extra big crop that seems to run under here whole breast area. The crop feels very hard to the touch. Hope it's gone by in the morning!

They finally calmed down and decided to rest awhile. They do enjoy being held. He pecked at me a few times when i tried to pet him. Rubbed his ears now all is fine!

Of course I have them quarantined from my flock and will for a period of 30 days.

I also have three one week old Black Copper Marans and will post images of them soon.

Editing to add: I was sorta worried about the little pullet who's crop was just HUGE yesterday. I've just never seen one so large. It went across her entire chest area. This morning it was completely gone!

Your hen looks pretty. Her tail area could be fluffier, but overall she looks nice.

Your cockeral isn't pure cochin, he looks like a silkie mix. I don't know much about frizzle gene, someone more experienced will help you with that. He really doens't look like a cochin to me, but I don't know what you mix a silkie with to get the frizzle (or is that a sizzle?).

They are so cute. The rooster looks to be Sizzle (frizzle cochin/silkie mix) and the hen a blue cochin. I think you can expect 50% blue and 50% black from this mix, and some might be frizzle. Post pics of their offspring when they have them :)

Now I have to figure out a way to get some meat on his bones! He feels so skinny. I need to mail the breeder they came from and ask if they have been wormed. btw: Your name just reminded me of a song! Actually it goes 'just a small town boy, living in a lonely world'. Don't mind me!

i wouldn't bother mailing them about i would just go ahead and treat them with a broad spectrum med then worm them which should take about a month which is how long you should keep them in quarantine
