Just learning about chickens. Small ranch. Built our own coop. Lot of thought went into it. Waterproof, nice & dry, built a roost ladder, good air movement, no problems with the flock during bitter cold -2* chickens stayed warm used a heat lamp. Getting ready for our first bunch of chicks.

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
You don't need to use a heat lamp at -2°F. It's just a major fire hazard when you do that. Not to mention if you lose power the chickens are plunged into very cold temperatures suddenly.
