New Coop and Run Finished!

I use used chain-linked dog kennels because they are Strong, Quick, and in 10 years(example) or more I can resell them and get all my money back. I can set-up a 10x10 x 6ft tall kennel in less than 10 minutes. If I want to move it in a year or 2----only takes a few minutes. I can add a netting or wire on top in a few more minutes. I Love them.

Riverman, looks like you have quite a set up for lots of chickens. Definitely a dog run would be strong and have a re-sale value. Me a few chicks in a city neighborhood, per code max is 5. I have a park behind my house and lots of coons, other critters, little shade in my backyard and many hot humid days in the summer. So coop needs to keep chick out of reach of paws and be securely covered and withstand our insane winds.

I totally understand. Not knocking no ones run---just sharing another idea that some might not think about. I raise 1000's of chicks and the chick pens are lined inside with extra wire so the chicks can not go through the chain-link wire. As well as no coop is close to the wire. Chicks are closed up in the coops at night.

Riverman, that's a lot of chickens It also looks well organized and well cared for. Chain link is strong and durable. I have chain around my back yard but only 4 feet. Needed my glasses to see the additional wire ;D Lots of people seem to be using dog runs as a starting point.

The ones for the chicks are not showing. I only have 4 pens in these 2 lines for the chicks, The chicks stay in the brooders until they get ready to move into the "chick Pens" (the ones with the smaller wire inside), as soon as they get big enough to not go through the chain-link wire--they go into other pens---usually divided---pullets away from cockerels. The pens you see or can see some of in the pic are less than 1/2 of my pens---this pic was taken showing the Pallet coop(5ftx10ft) you see in the middle of the pic to show someone on here its shape, etc. It took about 2 hrs (from start to finish)to build and it roost about 50 chickens easy. All free material except for the $25 in used tin on the top.
As far as chick pens I haven about a dozen more temporary chick pens built with 1/2" hardware cloth on the sides that I put few day old chicks on the ground with heated hovers. Being we are on the subject---in case someone here needs a idea on something bigger---here is a pic of a homemade hover in one of the temp pens(in mid winter here). It will hold about 150 few day old chicks.
