We are finally almost done. Built a new barn with 2 coops inside the bar, Both have their own covered run. And both have access to an open fenced in are to roam. On the other side of the 4 foot fence is pasture land.
They have been using the coops and runs for about a month while outside area was finished and grass planted.
When is a good time to let them roam for the first time? Later in the day so will have a fresh memory of where to come back to at dusk? If they fly into the pasture should I be concerned?

:th that is one amazing coop!
If they have been using the coop for a month then they will know to come back to it. As for the pasture question, i would be worried about hawks but that is about all.

What an amazing set up!

And yes if you're free ranging for the first time, after you've homed them to the coop, try letting them out late in the day so they don't go very far before having to come back.
