New coop and run

Not too much progress this weekend. We ended up getting a bit of much needed rain...

We got the back wall done:

Continued with the trench for the apron:

I'm hoping to get the front wall done tonight when I get home (if I can fight through the stinking cold that I have picked up).

Finally got a few minutes to get to the front wall...

Have to run out to home depot to pick up a few more things and I should be able to finish the run up this weekend...

Newest photo of my new run...
Got the walls all done. Stained the wood. Added the roof (ondura panels)...
The next steps are add the door, add a tunnel from the coop to the run, add the sand...
Then add the hardward clothe and chickens...

Speaking of sand, I've read where people put lime under their sand. Does anyone know what the purpose is for doing that?

I hope to finish this this weekend (taking longer than I expected, but I am very happy with the outcome thus far).

Every step takes me a while to complete (I'm a computer guy and have never built anything like this). It has been a very rewarding project.
