I'll be curious to hear whether your chickens fly up to peck that shiny foil. I think they might, but of course you won't know for sure until you try it and see.

i see a few pecks now that you mention it on the one side. i will have to cut it back by the top roost on both sides. I had used the leftovers to insulate my waterer but they were pecking that so i took it off.

Or you could cover it up with something.

Had same problem here, covered with part of a feed bag.

I did the same as you can see in the pic above when the pullets were trying to roost on the top of the feeder. Someone on the forum mentioned doing that. I had the privilege of watching a chick learn to not try roosting on top. I should have done the same to the waterer but didn't have the same type of setup with the chain nor did I have a feed bag at the time. The funnel on the waterer works just "ok".

Or you could cover it up with something. It has that whiteboard under it all the way up the wall so no problem cutting it back.
