New Coop build ventilation advice please

If I am going to have the vents in the walls I was thinking of putting a single louvre above them which should stop any rain from getting in, I'm going to be starting the conversion next week so I'll decide which option I'm going to do 🤔

The larger your roof over hangs the more options you'll have.
Do you have supplies for the roof?

Not sure what y'all have over there for std lumber but a few 2x4x8's and a 4x8 sheet of plywood would make a decent roof.
The construction side and what materials to use isn't a issue as I'm a joiner by trade I'm just trying to work out which way would give the best ventilation and that isn't going to cost too much, because of the size of the coop allowing for a 12" overhang all the way round it would work out to be 2 sheets of 8x4 ply opposed to vents in the walls would only be 1 sheet

Good to know, I was unaware.

The sidewall vents may provide more, but need bigger roof overhang to protect from rain. You get more rain than heat there, correct?

My idea to stop the rain from getting in is this

But you are right we do get a lot more rain than heat

I thought I'd make a start on sorting the coop out because we've got some surprisingly nice weather at the moment!! So far I've half made the nesting box which is just temporarily fixed on the back and fixed the end on that used to be a door next job will be cutting out the vents and the rear cleaning door
