I'll have to try the ladder! I have to say that it feels pretty nice to see it. It is the first thing that I have ever built like this.

Yes you did mention air vents and on each gable side you need to cut a 4" X 10" hole with a jigsaw and put hardware cloth ovr each and you golden on the venting up high. The coop is perfect for a small flock. The run is always a work in progress. Check out the runs on this link I like the coops but I kept the link for the picture of the runs with that huge door in it. Very Cool check it out CLICK>>> http://www.greenchickencoop.com/Large_Coop_Designs.html

I put up a few pictures of them previously in a different thread to get some suggestions on breed. These are just better photos. I know that they come from a free-ranging flock of about 20 different breeds. The splash is supposed to be a marans and does have lightly feathered legs. The grey one/EE also has a few feathers on her legs (tiny pin feather like ones) so I have no idea what color of eggs I might end up with from her. The third. Her name is Buffalo. She has some random leg feathers and is built like a brick...um...house compared to the others. I don't know how the color genetics work, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was a cuckoo marans x buff orpington cross.

Thanks! I was worried about being able to cover the vents in the winter during storms. I guess it doesn't matter since I typically tarp the coop any way, but I was concerned. I would much rather just cut the vents and cover them.
