new coop finished!

We put the roof on last night in the pouring rain and now I'm drying it out so I can move my girls in there by tuesday

Most of the materials on both my coops is scrap I had laying around, even the r-panel roofing. The floor on the bigger one was literally dumped at the end of my driveway, it fell off a truck and they never came back for it. Amazing what a little ingenuity and paint can do!!

Well all mine was scrap I had from other projects the only thing I bought was 2 vents, 6 hinges, and 4 latches. And hardware cloth for around the roof venting. I have extra paint in my shed and as soon as it dries around here it will be a nice shade of hunter green to match the tin roof

If you go on Craigslist and look in the material-by owner section, you can sometimes find some really good deals or check out the Free section, sometimes there is someone trying to clean up their yard or shed and will give it away.

Yeah, I can't remember for sure, but the only things that I had to buy was the hardware cloth, latches and hinges. The reason I use the hardware cloth is not even snakes can get thru that.

Kenmlang, what luck to have wood fall at your feet!! lol!

Texasfinest, It is so nice to use scraps and save money!!

I am trying to find scraps in my local area. We moved recently so we now have room for the chickens but we didn't bring with us the extra scraps and stuff we had because it was a super stressful situation and with that we got out of dodge ASAP. We have a few scraps or carpet but that doesn't help with a coop lol.
