 , in regards to the Smart siding that you used and that failed, was this the treated version?

It was/is just regular OSB based composite siding. I don't know about any of the OSB based sidings like this that are treated.

This is listed as "SmartSide 38:". OSB, treated and primed but a bit lighter weight than the DuraTemp primed...a few bucks cheaper, too, not that that the difference is a deal maker/breaker.

Not 100% sure that is the same product we have but it appears to be it. We've pretty much tried everything. Painting the edges, Z flashing on the bottom, caulking every nail penetration etc... No matter what we've tried the bottom edge and/or the nail penetrations eventually wick water and disintegrate.

I used it on my storage building. Has held up great for over 10 years. I used it on the coop as well.

Great for the floor. Couldn't imagine putting it on the walls.
