New coop run - currently yard grass - what should we do ?

LOL. I mucked out stalls too, ewww even with daily cleaning, but there is definitely a size and breed difference here. Thank goodness chickens do not urinate like equine do that is for sure.

We actually have three runs and two look like war zones with grass all gone and holes. The middle one the grass is in perfect condition except two places they dug for bathing. You know what... I might try one dlm and the other sand and that would tell me which way is best for us.

That’s a great idea! I’d like to know what you find works best, in the summer expecially.

Some of you people are relentless. Chickamama, I say you're good to go. Have you thought about adding wheels and making it a tractor?

We did but the way it attached and as heavy as it is it’s not easily moved.

I'm in Florida too and I've found that a dirt floor works fine. Then again, mine free range all day. I've heard that sand works pretty good...

I think we will start with letting them eat up the grass and go to the sand, dirt here lol. Then maybe add the pine nuggets. What part of FL are you in? We are in central FL.
