New Coop! Upping My Game!

A roof under the roost?

Yup, like this.

That is almost what I imagined. My coop is in an old barn, my chick-spouse said there is a lot of wasted room in there, but it is all set up so they can't get to the manure, and can't roost over something that isn't litter. Clean once a year. I break open a bag of pine shavings every month and scoop the old stuff under the roosts (they are hinged on the wall). The board is a clean too often thing for me, but it does use the space more efficiently.

How much bedding is going in there?
My 15 do about 3 gal in a couple weeks.
No bedding at all is in the bucket, or at most a cup full. I have poop boards covered with PDZ. I scoop the poop as the PDZ sifts through. I did make a mistake though. It’s not a 5 gallon bucket, it’s a 3 gallon bucket.
Oops.

We got a little snow this weekend (just a couple of inches) but when I checked in the coop the next morning, there wasn't any snow to be seen. I still think I'll need a ventilation "adjustment" setup for the coldest, nastiest weather, but it's a good sign.

The long side of the tall side of the coop (think my first picture) is south facing, which will hopefully be a good thing.
