I'm in the middle of construction on my duck coop. Just got the framing done!

I was looking for suggestions for winter ventilation on the top of my coop. The four small windows in the front and the triangular windows on the sides will have hardware cloth on the inside of the coop.
I also plan on utilizing the rafters for ventilation via vents or open air with hardware cloth.

I live in Wisconsin and winters can be pretty harsh. I'm not sure how much or little airflow I can allow for temperatures close to zero with below zero windchills at times.

I was planning on making covers/shutters for all the windows either made out of wood or plexiglass. Plexiglass will allow for solar heating in the winter.

Any suggestions or criticism is welcome!

The rafter opening should definitely be left open year-round. The 4 windows,,,, well you can make removable plexiglass panels, and determine during winter if some may need to be open. I would also make their south facing wall a window, to let in daylight. Not sure which that would be. It would aid in solar warming.
NICE CRAFTSMANSHIP,, :thumbsup

Great advice! I will definately add windows to the south! I'm excited to tinker and taylor this coop to our needs. I've got big plans for a spring loaded side ooening coop door! 😆😆 Don't worry there will be a safety latch so it doesn't turn into a duck guillotine!
