New Coop!!!

Glad you were able to extend the run!

Wow that roost is really sweet... I can almost guarantee they'll ignore half the ramps lol, but still nice to have them there. Like the rounded off roosts too.

Did you ude the vented soffit material as a ceiling inside? I didn't see ceiling, but see the vented soffit peeking out.

I had a bunch left over from my barn, and now I see how it could be used to allow ventilation but still protect from intruder critters. NICE!

I dont have it on the ceiling inside just open rafters. I may put wire mesh in the openings but I'm pretty confident in the soffit being suffice. My whole coop so far has been extra materials from my construction jobs

Open soffits are fantastic for ventilation but I'd put in wire mesh. Unlikely something gets in there, but why wait for something to happen? Compared to the rest of the work you've done already, it should be a quick addition.

I was going to suggest 1/2" HC for soffit 'covers', but it might be too much breeze with no fascia to buffer infiltration.
Could baffle that breeze with cardboard or foam board attached to underside of rafters inside, from top of wall up a foot or two to redirect airflow up higher.
Just some thoughts.
Hard to know how the air will flow until you stand inside on a really windy day to check it out.

I will put hardware mesh inside between rafters. I can install baffles if it's getting too windy but I dont think it will be. The space for air to enter isnt very large to begin with.
Today I built the nesting box, finished the soffit and fascia, and installed the vented ridge cap. If all goes well tomorrow I should have the chickens by the weekend!

Exactly.
The perforated soffit material you used make both other things moot.

There is a little baby fascia there, nice trim job!

Hey aart, appreciate the kudos on the flashing. I apologize I dont fully understand what you meant though, is the stuff I used good or bad?
That's good soffit material for house attics, but as you mentioned not going to let a lot of air thru, which might make not enough to ventilation a chicken coop.
The fact that it doesn't let a lot of air flow, makes the dampers I mentioned unneeded and the HC probably unneeded too....tho a coon could might get it's little fingers in there somewhere and peel back the perforated plastic loose enough to get in.

Oh really? I was in there today and its blowing good here right now, I though it was almost too much airflow. I was debating trying to baffle the air flow a big. Theres a 3 inch ridge vent the length of the coop as well
