New Coop!

I LOVE your coop. The real window is really neat. I would have liked that for our coop. Hope your chickies like the snow. Thank you for posting the pics.

I'm not supposed to have roosters either....lucky i have great neighbors. You should think of making the roof more solid to hold the heat in. The roof you described is probably letting all the heat right out. I found the heat stays in ours because of the tight roof with insulation. With one heat lamp ours was 50 degrees tonight when we closed it up for the night. That was with 2 chicken doors open all day. It helps that much. I love the coop .......it is a great size for your birds. I hope you dont get like me and keep getting more. I was supposed to get 3....but the minimum order was 6.....and somehow i went up to 20

I am now looking for a mini-farm to buy so i can legally do what i want

I'm sorry, i was assuming it was not because the heat lamp did not warm it up very much.
I wonder why.......

When you tested the heat lamp, was it before all that was finished? My coop is probably 5 times that size and was 50 deg. with one lamp and 2 open chix doors. I think that should work with a heat lamp.

I take that back....if you closed in the entire coop/run area right to the ground, that would be about the size of mine.

Right now there is no ventilation in the coop, still needs to be put in, along with the chickens!!! As the egg doors have not been sealed in against drafts, DH thought that would serve as a guide to see how the temps held...they are on a piano hinge, so not much draft at all. So I am now looking at a flat panel wall heater or possibly one of those plug in heaters with the oil in it, connected to a thermostat.

WOW....you mean business!!!

last night was 10 degrees here......You were probably even less, so its good that you are going to make sure they are safe and happy.
