New coop

That is really smart to build the brooder and storage with the coop!! I wanted to, but my sister and I built mine. 10' by 14'. It was freezing outside and we both had babies under one year of age lol. Plans changed. It works though!

Looking forward to seeing the finished coop!

What a fantastic job you guys are doing!!! :) keep posting updated pics. I can't wait to see it finished, what a great idea for storage and the brooder I wish we could think ahead like that and build one for ours lol but I know I won't be able to brood to many babies like I want too just not enough room.

That is a big coop, I am planning a 12x12 but no storage or brooder area in mine.
Our's is a 12x12 as well with just an open floor plan, nothing extra in it. Honestly, I walk into it and feel like it needs to be bigger lol! I'm hoping to use up it's max in the end and have 25-30 or so chickens! :) We are just getting the floor joists put up in ours, so fun to watch all the progress on everyone elses coop projects!

I ordered 28 chicks from McMurray, they throw in 1 free mystery rare chick and probably a couple extras so I should have around 30 if none die. I figure 12x12 should suit me fine and be a little on the big side (so we can add some more) I want to build external nests somehow so I am not wasting space with them inside.

We ended up with 81 babies figuring we would lose 10%.....5 weeks later we still have 81 :) the only thing we've lost so far is one of our ducks. We got 2 tiny welsh harlequins and one died....the other one is fine, still super tiny compared to everyone else though. The trusses went up on the coop yesterday and half the siding is up!! We have a bunch of left over pergo so the chickens get a pergo floor today too :)
