I just had 10 (hatchery gave me 11) broiler chicks arrive today. I have never raised more than a few at a time and would like to know from some of you more experienced people to give me some options for raising them as they get bigger. In previous years I made a “corral” for them in my garage until about 7 weeks when they were processed. This will not work now with this many. Has anyone done a chicken tractor? If so how did it work? The poop/smell is all I can remember about them, and I want to keep them outside if possible! I also have layer hens in a coop but it’s not set up to separate them in that. Thank you!!

Best way is to make a moveable chicken tractor and move them daily or so. They wont smell and they will get fresh grass and bugs, kinda like being free range but still contained. My grass always came in lusher after the chickens went over it too
Thanks, that is what I’m leaning towards too. Now to find plans to make one 😬

That’s really nice! Hoping my hubby will put something together soon. 50! Wow! I’m struggling to find freezer space for my 11, we just processed a cow too 😯

Not alI for me, processing for friends and family also. But this is definitely the largest batch. More and more people keep wanting them once they have one.
