New duck lover

I also cant keep an eye on our flock 24-7 when they are out free ranging. I still have in place an outside perimeter where nothing can get in even if it wanted, two legged people included!

I would be absolutely heart broken as you, if anything or one was able to harm our flock. I guess your post struck a sore spot and I am sorry to have posted a harsh reply, it sounds like your heart is in the right place. :love
Full perimeter fencing isn't an option here because the property line is the center of a large creek, and the creek is one reason I chose to have ducks. I have learned through painful experience what dangers to watch for, but minks are still a problem.

Understandable, everyone has different obstacles to work with, A large creek would be awesome for the ducks. We to hope to find property soon with a creek or pond on it for our ducks, they sure do love their water!

I agree, mink or any other small carnivores are a challenge to protect your flock from. A hungry predator has nothing to loss and a free meal to gain with no deterrents in place, it's an open invitation at that point. Best of luck with your flock. :)
