Finally got my first ducks and chickens. I'm so excited and my German shorthair is mad. Lol. The ducks are hatchery choice from the local feed store and I am going nuts trying to figure out what breed they are. I think the lighter one may be some kind of runner but I am unsure on the darker one. He doesn't stand up as straight as the other one does most of the time but when he does it doesn't last but a couple seconds. Can anyone help me please????

Thanks,
Brie

The bigger one is probably a Pekin. The smaller one with the darker bill could be numerous breeds, probably with some kind of pattern. My Welsh Harlequins and some other breeds I have seen look like that.

Congrats on your new additions! They're adorable.

If the lighter one stands upright, it probably is a runner, fawn and white. The darker, I'm not sure. It could just be a poorer quality runner. But also welsh harlequin.
Ask the feed store where they order from. That way you can see what the hatchery carries and you can narrow it down.

They are cuties.

Do Pekins have some gray? All the pix I looked at they looked all bright yellow?

Ill have to to look up fawn and whites. Thanks for your help.

The one that I thought might be a runner is standing as straight as he gets in the first picture.

So cute!!!

My Pekins were all bright yellow, no shadow at all, so I cant really help you...you will find out pretty soon though, they grow so fast!

I'm excited I want them to hurry up and grow but they are so cute right now!! My bird dog doesn't think so but he has done great. Even lets them crawl on him but still gives me "the look"
