Hullo! I'm a new duck parent, my 2 ducklings ( Cayuga and Welsh Harlequin) are coming from metzer farms in about 2 days, and I'm a experienced poultry owner but these are my first ducks! So I have some questions...

question num 1.) Will 2 ducks and 3 chickens work in a 10X by 10X foot run with a bungalow coop attached? This is what I have for them...

question num 2.) My brooder is set up in my bathtub with a standard heat lamp with red bulbs, bedding is pine chips, and on the other side is a small washcloth with a standard one quart chick waterer and feed bowl on top of the washcloth so they don't accidently consume any shavings. Anything wrong here?

question num 3) (sorry for the questions)

question num 5.) I'm feeding DUMOR organic chick starter with a minimum of .90 lysine, should I add anything here?

Thanks!

for your second question, no nothing is wrong. just be sure that your bathtub is tall enough that they won't be able to jump out. i don't know how old your ducks are but in their first week of birth, their heating lamp should be about 90 degrees. after each week the temp. should be decreasing by about five degrees until they get their full feathers.

Just so you know and are prepared for this?...;)....Sometimes Ducks and Chickens can not live together...;)...

Ducks grow really fast and make a mess with water which causes coccid to thrive and it can kill Chicks..:(....

I feed all my Chicks medicated feed and my Ducklings Duck starter...Ducks cant eat medicated feed..;).......

Sorry, two pens are needed..:)

Cheers!

really!
Everywhere I have read said they can get along, and I suppose if they don't I'll have to sell them on craigslist or something...Why would'nt they get along!?!

Everything you read is romantic about Ducks and Chickens getting along..It can happen but most times it does not..;)...

Drakes have a Penis and will breed Chickens..:(...Roosters basically rub bell buttons with Hen and no big deal..;).....A Drake can kill a Chicken Hen...Also if they don't like each other the two species will fight...;)...:(....

Sorry....That's the truth about Ducks and Chickens coexisting ..;)

@PoultryAddict 1 also keep in mind that ducks need a higher protein than chicks, you should look into an all-flock type feed not a chicken feed

what protein % does that starter have??
